Wander would then be considered evil, and that Ico, having the qualities he had, would also be evil. After all, who would create Idols for evil beings? This theory then states that by killing the beasts, his legend was passed on as a tale of an evil and selfish man. Option two says that the Colossi were actually religious icons, like 'Angels' if you will, and that by killing them, Wander was killing the people's loved icons. Now, this is the more ridiculous one (Who would sacrifice someone with qualities of our Jesus?), but it is not impossible. Ico was 'sacrificed' as he had Horns like the previous hero Wander, and would be sacrificed as a sign of love for Wander. But, if people idolize a person, they'll take his story as a religion. Now, I know what you're thinking and no, I'm not going back to say he was reincarnated and this is really the shitty theory I wanted it to not be. Option one says that the idols, and the Colossi themselves, were evil as the game wanted us to think, and that with Wander killing them, he became a great being, almost like a 'Jesus', if you will. However, Option Two seems to be the more rational and realistic of the two. I think if given a choice, I would say Option One were the Nicer and less sad version.

But who would make idols for supposedly evil creations? The Dromin? They were just personified as a light in the ceiling. The Dormin, the person or people that tell Wander to kill the Colossus, informs them the Colossi allign with idols on the wall, and that when one falls, its idol falls as well. What I will say is that Shadow takes place many, many years before Ico, and that though Wander never appears or is referenced to in the latter game, he does play a role in setting up Ico's fate.įor those uninitiated, Wander knows the place he travels to is forbidden to enter, and that reviving a soul was forbidden as well. Some players will note that at the end of Shadow, Wander grows horns, signifying he is similar to Ico. There's the obvious fantasy setting and Japanese language, as well as fictional languages used at certain points.
